How to use · FAQ

What is the ladder game?

A classic way to match people with results at random — popular in Korea and Japan, where it’s called sadari-tagi and amidakuji, and also known as ghost leg.

Each person starts at the top of a vertical line. Going down, you turn whenever you meet a rung and follow it to the next line. Everyone ends up at a different result at the bottom.

How does it decide the results?

It shuffles the results without bias using your browser’s crypto.getRandomValues, then builds a ladder that leads to that order. Tap a name to see the path along the real rungs. Every player lands on exactly one result, and no two players land on the same one.

How many players can join?

2 to 12 players. Type the same number of players and results, one per line, up to 80 characters each. Two players with the same name count as different players, and you can repeat a result on several lines. On a phone, swipe the ladder sideways if it’s wide.

Are the names and results saved?

No. They’re only used on this page — not put in the link, not sent to a server, not saved. Changing the lists clears the ladder and results. To keep them, copy the results.
